![]() ![]() My best piece of travel advice: always take the unpaved road. One thing we know in Arkansas is that the best things are always found down dirt and/or gravel roads. The entire property is open container (they trusted me with glass), and since Henri was the only dog there that day, I let him off leash. With a richly colored, dry rose in one hand, and Henri’s leash in the other, we headed out to explore. ![]() So, I picked out a good summer walking wine. After so much build up to that moment, I was so happy we were in a relaxing atmosphere and were able to enjoy a nice glass of wine.I wasn’t quite ready for a snack. After we finished with our moment, Rob came over to say hi and congratulate us. We could not have asked for a better backdrop for our first look. We ended up falling in love with the property so much that we spoke to Rob and Christine (the owners) about having our first look for our wedding on their property and I am so happy we did. The owners were always welcoming and very happy to show us around and share their story with us. ![]() Every trip we made up to the area we made a point of stopping for a glass of wine and to restock with “a few” bottles of wine to hold us over till our next visit. We live about 2.5 hours away but were planning a wedding at Woodloch which meant we were up in the area a lot. It is such a warm and welcoming location with great people and delicious wine. We fell in love with Three Hammers the first time we went there. Factoring in the staff's attitude, it really wasn't worth it. The tastings were $10 per person, which is more than I've payed in Napa Valley. They seemed more interested in ushering everyone out than making a sale. I completely respect their business hours, but this is not how to make patrons and potential customers feel welcome, especially a full 20 minutes before closing. We also overheard the woman who gave us our tasting tell a couple who had just walked in that she could "maybe squeeze in a tasting because we close at 3:00." We were told at 2:40 that because they were closing at 3:00, we could not, but they still encouraged us to buy a bottle. We arrived a little after 2pm for a tasting, and asked if we could enjoy a glass on their terrace with a fire pit afterward. We were there on a holiday, when they had hours until 3:00. The three-star rating comes in where our experience with the staff is concerned. The wine, while unexceptional, had a couple of really nice offerings, notably the viognier and syrah. The grounds and winery itself were lovely. We hope that the other wines in your case were to your liking and that you will visit us again. Our staff often shares that information with customers so that they do not miss opportunities. We proudly produce our wines in small batch quantities sourcing fruits from the best American Viticulture Areas of the country – and yes, that is a unique quality of our PA wine! It is true that our inventories change seasonally (and so does our tasting menu) as we release new vintages and many different varietals. We appreciate that what is pleasing to our palates will vary among wine lovers. We believe the minerality of this West-Coast style Sauvignon Blanc displays its elegance in multidimensional layers which is where you pick up” celeriac” flavor, and we understand that this was not enjoyable by your usual tastes. It is unfortunate that our Sauvignon Blanc was not to your liking. Our staff strives to excel in providing visitors a memorable wine experience through education of our practices in winemaking, sharing of our knowledge in and experiences with our products, and dedication to superior customer service. We understand this experience did not meet your expectations. Three Hammers Winery would like to take this opportunity to thank you for providing your perspective on a recent visit. ![]()
